Urban Farmer Educator
Jessica Raav is our urban farmer educator at Chase Lake Community School. She is inspired by working with youth; empowering others with knowledge about food that they can grow, eat, and share; and cultivating a strong sense of community around food and gardening. Jessica is helping Farmer Frog because she is passionate about addressing issues of poverty, nutrition, education, and food security from the ground up within the educational sector and as a stepping stone into larger community networks.
Jessica, who grew up in the Northwest, loves hiking with friends, foraging for mushrooms and nettles, and exploring beaches and national parks, as well as hosting potlucks and dinner cook-offs. She learned to whistle while living in Mexico, but not the usual way most people whistle. “When we meet in the garden, I’ll be happy to show you,” she says, “it’s a lot harder than it looks!”
