Urban Farmer Educator
Chris likes to be in the garden, in tune with the seasons, cooperating with the growth cycles, and welcoming family and friends, which might include some animals. She believes that God placed us in a garden and asked us to tend with grateful hearts and minds, because there all our needs are met.
Being retired and motivated by learning about the design systems of nature, such as permaculture, Chris is eager to be active outdoors, planning and shaping gardens. When she heard Will Allen of Growing Power Inc. speak on urban agriculture and community building, “my heart responded,” she says. “Someone should do this,” she thought. “Zsofia‘s response to hearing Will Allen was, ‘I think I can do this,’ says Chris, “so I help.” Geoff Lawton, permaculture designer and consultant, is her hero. Chris loves her shovel, mud boots, truck, and gloves along with free stuff such as manure, compost, burlap bags, pallets, and creative opportunities.
